Jefferson is a 17-year-old Junior at White Hall High School. He began playing guitar with former founding member of Exempt, Zack Harper, in the bedroom of his parents' home. As the band idea grew, he combined duties as drummer with Harper. Soon to outgrow the bedroom, they took over the family garage. With the addition of Ben Roberts and Matt Duckworth, the band was born. Jefferson, a recent Eagle Scout, loves fishing, camping and spreading the Word through their music.

Harper was replaced with fellow Eagle Scout Kenny May, and the current band was formed. They have since moved into a newly built studio at Jefferson's home and a permanent home for the creation of the Exempt sound is in place.

Matt's goals: to one day be able to make a career of Exempt. He also hopes to write songs for other artists. He plays and is endorsed by Warrior guitars and basses.

Matt's favorite saying(s): "Hate bad. Love good. You'll be rewarded guaranteed. Just remember, God is always with you." and "Friends who practice deceit are like 500 channels of PBS... you just don't need them."

Matt's ideal woman: Any girl who can kick my butt and cook.
Favorite past times: memorizing pi, milking my pet goat "sassy", and "thespian talk".
